Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Happy Summer Everyone

Greetings From Thailand!

I have not been active on the forum for over two months now, but do hop on to read and stream a few times a week. I would like to send my token of gratitude to all of you who keep this train rollin daily. It is also good to see some new heads on here too -- welcome aboard!

I was back home in America this summer for 7 weeks. I got to see my family, play some concerts and take a road trip from Portland to Red Rocks to see Widespread Panic. Was anyone there? I have been waiting for 16 years to attend a show there.

Panic set the record there for 33 sold out shows over 11 years. The 3 show run was amazing with cover highlights of: Life During War Time, Low Spark, Fairies Wear Boots, Riders On The Storm, No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature, Mr. Soul and a very rare Stir It Up -- and all their classics too. As many of you know, they are a very kind band.

Forum Meeting:

I got to meet (Brian) Wineland for some drinks at a bar in the Pearl District of Portland in July. He was just as cool and kind in person as he is on here. Thanks Bri.

Been jammin to, what else, 72 Dead.

Grabbed this one over at LL and have been lovin the 2nd set.

I also saw Phil and his excellent friends twice in PA. The Philly show was very sweet:

The Peggy-O was epic and the Scarlet through the Eleven was pure bliss. Enjoy!

A Hard Rain's... from the night before was absolutely amazing:

So much music and I do have tons of time.

It's nice to be back on here --
Let It Shine ~

Return greetings to one of the coolest people on the forum. Snori exaggerates (just very slightly) the misery of summer in the UK but we get by (we just love having something to complain about, don't we, snori?). I really envy you being able to catch some Phil shows - I've been able to listen to quite a few via download but it's not the same as being there of course. It seems to have been an exceptional run. If you haven't heard it yet I urge you you to give a listen to the acoustic set from Bonnaroo - one of the finest things I've heard this year.

Hey, such kind words from a very kind person, thanks for making my day.

Yeah, the Phil shows were sweet, the first night in PA we got 3 sets, with the middle being acoustic, some of the same songs from TN. Til The Morning Comes was nice. And I love Deep Elm -- listening to your awesome recommendation now.

Did you ever get into Panic? You should invite them out that way.

Indeed SD77, good to have you back man.
Hope your time with the family was well spent!
I grabbed that 72 show from LL also. Haven't given it a spin yet though.

Enjoy what's left of the summer dude.
Pretty soon, The westies will be crowing in January and Febuary.

WHARFRAT:

Thanks for taking time to reply to my post, always nice to see you on here. Enjoy that 72 show, I'm gonna give it another run today. What ever happened to JP? No complaints, we're so spoiled.

Just got Winterland 73, it's going to be a rockin weekend here.

Some nice links there SD77, if we get a summer this year it will probably make international news, but greetings from a soggy U.K.

Thanks for your kind reply. I've heard about the climate out that way, I look forward to experience it for myself sometime soon. You're always welcome out here for a year-round summer.
